Hello Tauck admin, is this forum active? I have a couple of questions about the May trip. Thank you.

All the forums are active, Diane; some of them just haven't been posted in yet! Feel free to post any questions or comments, and the community will respond. If they don't; I or another Tauck representative may respond.

So, what are your questions? :)

    Hi Tim,
We sailed the Treasures of the Aegean last June and the sea was wonderfully calm. How will the Mediterranean compare?
Also, jacket and tie needed for dinner onboard?
    Thanks,
    Diane

Did you ever get reply about the dress for dinner? I would love to know before we pack! Bert Barrett

To Bert - We talked a couple of weeks ago when you opened this forum. After I saw the question about jacket and tie, I called Tauck about dinner dress, and the person I spoke to said there was no need for a jacket and tie at dinner. A jacket would be good for the captain's dinner with tie optional. You had asked if we were arriving in Malta early, and no, we're not. We are staying for 5 days after the trip for the Formula One Grand Prix-my husband Bert is a big racing fan-but that was as much time as we could spare to be away from home. I'm looking forward to meeting you and our fellow travelers.

    To Betsy,
Thanks for calling Tauck about the jacket and tie question. I've heard there may be a specific need for the tie at the Monaco casino, did that come up?

The casino in Monte Carlo "requires" a jacket and tie for men, but I read on TripAdvisor that they allow people in that are casually dressed. One post I read said that people were in the casino dressed in shorts. So they probably would prefer that people get dressed up, but they also want the business so they don't enforce the jacket and tie rule.

The Treasures of the Mediterranean uses Le Ponant as their sailing ship. It has NO stabilizers and the Straits of Malta were horribly rough. At least it was in the a.m. from 4 a.m to 8 a.m. Also the rooms on the Le POnant are teeny tiny. Not comparable to the Wind Star which has nice rooms and stabilizers if the water is rough. I will never sail on the Le Ponant again.

We were on Le Ponat from Malta to Rome a couple of years ago. Yes it can be a little rough in the straight, yes the rooms are small. Did we enjoy it and would like to sail on ti again someday ?? YES!!!!!!!
