Recommended Footwear for Panama Canal/Costa Rica Tour Feb 2012

Do we really need all the types of shoes mentioned in the "planning to go" section of tour documents? Ankle-High hiking, wet shoes, waterproof lowcuts, etc.

I hope not! I'm taking what I have.

We'll be on one of the Feb tours and are taking comfy walking shoes, our water shoes for snorkeling, and sandals. I suspect if you just have comfy walking shoes you'll be fine. The water shoes are helpful if you enjoy snorkeling as you never know if it will be rocky which can hurt feet if barefoot.

Just back from the trip - wonderful trip! It was good we brough the water shoes - for the wet landings on the beaches having a shoe that can be wet when you step in water that may go up to your calf is good. Or go barefoot and then put on your walking shoes after drying your feet works too. For the nature walks we just used our comfortable walking shoes. There are one or two walks where along the trails you could step into some mud, so the water/wet shoes are good for those walks as long as they are comfortable.
