American Canyonlands Tour June (th 2025
This is our first tour of any kind. Is a daypack really needed plus how wet do you get on the river rafting trip, my wife being a big city girl is worried if she has to bring a change of clothing/sneakers and if so where she changes

Do not worry, it is a gentle float down the river. Be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen.
A day pack is for things you might need for the day such as sunscreen, sweater, waterproof, tissues—-get the idea. We use lightweight foldable into themselves backpacks that are about 4x4 inches when folded up into themselves. We take them on every tour. I even have one that folds into a tiny tiny bag of about 1x 2 inches and opens up into a backpack.
We took this tour years ago and enjoyed it. Two years ago we took the equivalent Bridges tour with our grandchildren—-on the rafting trip on that tour, we had the option to plunge into the river when we pulled up to a bank halfway down the trip. All the kids ran into the freezing water continuously, I just watched and laughed.
We took this trip two years ago. Your wife should not worry. The raft is very solid. You do not get wet. I purchased water shoes for my family and they were not needed. Any flat-soled casual shoe would be fine. It's a very pleasant trip. Our guide offered to let anyone, who wanted to, handle the rowing in the straighter areas. The guide did the rowing in the shallow water and where there was a turn. My husband handled the rowing for about half the trip. The Tauck bus takes you to the meeting point with the raft. So you can assess the situation and leave anything you don't need on the bus.
This was an excellent trip - it was one of our favorites. The raft trip was great. - and I agree with others' comments - we did not get wet at all. When at the Grand Canyon, our tour director recommended we hike to Yavapai Point to see the Grand Canyon at sunrise, about a 1 1/2 mile hike from the hotel. We did the hike - my husband wasn't thrilled - but I thought it was beautiful and well worth the hike.
