July 2025 Tanzania Family Safari
I am an American grandmother taking my 13-year-old Swedish grandson on the Family Safari Tanzania, departing on July 23, 2025. Although it's a bit early, we would like to connect with other families taking this tour. We look forward to meeting other guests before we travel. Happy Holidays all!

Hello, I believe we are on the same trip. We are family of 15. We are grandparents, parents, and grandchildren.
The children range and age from seven years old to 22. We all live in New Jersey and looking forward to this adventure. There is a 13 yr old girl.
We just returned from the classic Tanzania Kenya Tauck tour and although not the Family Bridges trip we had the Director Chris Mancini who you will have in your trip. I cannot begin to tell u what a fabulous time you will have with your kids and grandkids. Chris told us this is his favorite trip to host and boy does he make it fun. He has 2 kids of his own and will make every single day special. You have never met a more enthusiastic knowledgeable guy who has a special repose with everyone u will come in contact with. We cannot wait to go back and bring our grandchildren as Chris was so fabulous.
It is not guaranteed you will get Chris Mancini. We had him for the Bridges tour last year, but there was one a couple of days ahead of us and another just behind us. He does like leading the Bridges tours, he loves kids and partly because his tips are guaranteed on that tour. Since Tauck stopped paying tour directors extra money for leading small group tours, it’s better for him. We had him years ago on the Botswana, Zambia, South Africa tour and he’s definitely a favorite tour director…last year, my granddaughter was eager to tell him I had a crush on him 😀
Thanks for everyone's notes. Diane, I am in Philadelphia and my grandson is in Malmö, Sweden. How exciting that you have so much of your family participating in this adventure.
We look forward to meeting you and sharing this journey with you. Anne
We are on the July 18 Bridges trip to Tanzania. Ten people- 2 grandparents, 4 parents and 4 grandkids- 2 age 13, 1 age 10 and 1 age 6. We would love to connect with others on the trip before we leave. Please let us know!
Be aware the 6 year old will not be able to do the balloon ride
Yes, they were very strict about the ages on the balloon ride. We had to get our granddaughters passport out for proof of age.
@YaYa2021 we are on that trip. 2 grandparents, 4 parents and 3 grandkids - ages 7, 13 and 15. see you in a few weeks.
Tauck assured us that the 6 year old could participate in balloon ride with a harness and cushion. Are they wrong?
From balloonsafaris.com website:
Do you have a child policy?
Our minimum age is 7 years on the date of the flight. This comes from our Safety Management System and risk analysis. We understand that this could cause a problem for families with younger children, so we've come up with 2 alternatives:
A: If the child is 6 years: Is the child over 1.4m? If not, can be mitigated with enhanced safety belt and the fitted seating cushion. Does the child speak English? This is needed for safety instructions. If yes, the child can fly safely with us.
B: if we have guests with children under 6, we will bring them all with us to the launch site and the under-age children will be able to watch the launch and then follow the balloons with our team and be there when the rest of the family lands. They can then join in with the celebration of the flight and the 'full-English' bush breakfast. We will have a dedicated carer on hand to look after them and we won't charge a thing for those children who couldn't fly with the rest of their families.
Hmm. I have no idea. When I spoke to the balloon people on a previous tour they were strict about the rule. I was asking because of anticipating taking grandchildren. But maybe Tauck has been able to negotiate. We deliberately waited until our youngest grandson was 7 last year. You are harnessed in anyway. You get in the basket when it is on its side before it launches and then uprights itself. You mean he could stand on the cushion so he can peek over the side of the basket?
