Mobility
!Hi there!
My travel companion, who’s over 75, has been having trouble with her back and hips. She finds it difficult to walk quickly or easily on uneven terrain, and stairs pose a significant challenge. Despite these difficulties, she’s determined that we go on this trip.
I’m hoping to get some feedback from you all. Can she manage to participate in the trip, or should we consider letting her sit out where needed?
Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

there will be stairs getting on and off boats, buses and airplanes
More than just stairs; this is a very active tour. There is a lot of walking on uneven surfaces, hills, getting on and off boats, etc., and there may not be places she can stay behind unless she just remains on the coach or in the hotel. I’d strongly suggest she reconsider.
I agree with mFrancis. We just returned from this tour and it is very active. There are many days with walking and stairs. There may be times she could forgo the activity but it would take away from the experience. This is a fantastic tour.
I agree with the above, very active tour, maybe she can reconsider unless she won't mind missing some activities, there are a few flights and more that one boat.
This is a very busy tour with long days, lots
Of airline travel, and significant amounts of walking. Maybe she can reschedule after she resolves these mobility issues or do a less active trip. I think she needs to go on cruises in the meantime . She can do the excursions within her capabilities, and have fun on the ship in between.
Also strongly suggest she consider her impact on fellow travelers, and choose a different experience more in keeping with her abilities.
Wanderingsole,
If you do decide to go, please be upfront with the tour director at the start of the trip so she/he can advise which activities might be too difficult.
Frequently there are workarounds; other times she might need to sit at a café while the rest of the travelers go on the excursion. I do not see staying on the bus as an option since the driver might need to get gas, tidy up the bus and/or take a required break.
Best of luck to you in making your ultimate decision.
