Mobile Phones No Longer Allowed in Bandhavgahr Nat’l Park

On tour now. Per newly issued rules, mobile phones may no longer be brought into the park - an addition to already strict security requirements. Since many use their IPhone as their camera, this leaves one without a camera while on safari in India, unless they bring a separate true camera. I am passing this along in particular for those on upcoming departures, in case Tauck does not get the word out in advance. Happy New Year to All.

Yes, the use of mobile phones (including iPhones) is now strictly prohibited in the core tourism zones of all Madhya Pradesh Tiger Reserves, including Bandhavgarh, as of a December 2025 directive aimed at reducing disturbances for wildlife and ensuring better conservation, meaning visitors should use dedicated cameras for photos. This ban, based on a Supreme Court ruling, requires visitors to leave phones behind for an immersive experience, with fines for violations.
What This Means for Your Visit:
No Phones in Core Zones: You cannot use your mobile phone for calls, photos, or anything else during safaris in core areas.
Dedicated Cameras Encouraged: Carry a proper camera and binoculars for capturing sightings.
Buffer Zones: While the core is restricted, some buffer zones or specific activities might have different rules, but the general trend is restricting phone use.
Why the Ban? To create a disturbance-free environment, prevent crowding at sightings, and promote responsible tourism for the tigers' benefit.
In Summary: If visiting Bandhavgarh or other MP parks soon, prepare to disconnect your phone and enjoy the jungle with traditional camera gear to comply with these new conservation rules

  • Thanks to all

  • Geotracking is major issue when protecting endangered species not only from tourist but from poaching. I believe it is only time before other safaris and conservation areas do the same. Is the use of the the phone prohibited or the possession prohibited? Modern cameras do have Bluetooth and WiFi connections usually associated with your phone.

  • that is pretty self explanatory. That is what I thought. Thanks
