Prague currency

For those of you who have traveled to Prague... How did you deal with the currency exchange ?

Use a credit card without any transaction fees.

  • Credit card

  • Isn't the Czech Republic part of the EU? Assuming so, they would use the Euro which you can get almost anyhere in the EU. You can use your bank card in a ATM and get what you need. You can also check into getting Euros before you leave - but the exchange rate may not be great.

As OurTravels said, look out for transaction fees. Some banks will not charge you for using an out of network ATM.

You probably won't need much. You can use a credit card for most things.

  • We have been to Prague a couple times and never used the local currency. We paid with credit cards and tipped with dollars.

  • Just because a country is part of the European Union (EU) does not mean they are obligated to have the € as their currency. They are still sovereign nations and can retain their own monetary system.

  • Ah, you're right. They use the Czech Koruna. Sorry for the incorrect answer.

  • My preference is to have some local currency, especially when adding pre/post tour days to pay for incidentals.

  • I do the same and leftovers go towards the tips.

  • Most places where I have been of late are very happy to accept credit cards for incidentals like a cup of coffee.
