We chose the Yuletide Spirit cruise because it was not focused on markets. We had a wonderful time exploring lovely towns in Belgium where we had not been before. Sadly, it met its demise; 2026 will be its last year.
The only reason I can think of is that people only want to experience markets and not culturally enriching experiences that time of year. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that. It just doesn’t appeal to us.
I think the new Seine holiday cruise will offer a rewarding blend of activities and I look forward to that experience.
So far I've done 3 of the Holiday River Cruises and am booked on the new Holiday on the Seine later this year. I love a Holiday theme! :-)

For best Christmas Markets - The Danube. I enjoyed the local tours better on the Rhine. I did the Yuletide this past December and am glad to have taken it before it apparently will no longer be offered. I thought it was a good cruise, but not market focused like the Danube and the Rhine. If you could only do one, then the Danube and if you go to the below links you can find many past posts that may help you decide. terrilyn has posted some great reviews on the Danube and gives some great tips as well.
