Dress Suggestions for Treasurers of the Aegean
in Travel Tips
Curious as to how many "dressy" occasions are on this tour. Leaving May 2026

I'm on that tour now. So far, only one dressy event, the Captain's Gala.
Thank you!
Thinking a bit further, the going away dinner may be a bit dressy. Haven't gotten there yet.
Take a look at our blog - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2026-2Mediterranean-01.htm
The pictures may show what people are wearing and what events there are on the tour.
Thank you Mike - really enjoyed your blog! Another question regarding tipping - do you tip at restaurants? tour guide or director? Ship staff? If you don't mind how much?
[Oops, I got confused and answered your question as if it was about the Treasures of the Mediterranean instead of the Treasures of the Aegean – which is what you asked about. I did that in my previous answer, also. Sorry for the confusion on my part. My answer was not of much help to you.
I did do a blog for our Treasures of Agean and you can see it here - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2024-2Athens-01.htm
I apologize for my incorrect responses.]

[This is my response about the Treasures of the Mediterranean] When we ate in local restaurants, I tipped. I paid using my iPhone (tap) and when they gave me the unit to sign, there was a place for a tip. I tipped about 10%. It was clear from their reaction that they appreciated it. I suppose we Americans tip bigger than locals.
When we ate in the hotel and Tauck was not paying, I received a paper slip to sign and indicate my hotel room - and there was a line for a tip. I did tip.
No tips required on the ship. We always give our cabin attendant a tip, and she obviously really appreciated it. I'm not going to give an amount. I think you should go with what you think is reasonable and can afford. The people who work those ships do so for the money. They leave their family - and kids - for months at a time in order to better provide for their family.
You don't generally tip the TDs. There were five on the ship and we were with different ones on different excursions. It would be very expensive if you had to tip all five of them. I'm a woodworker and I had a some wooden things I had made (a smartphone stand and some salt and pepper shakers) that I gave to the TDs. See https://www.mikes-woodwork.com/ The smartphone stands are on the second page.
Thanks for your kind words about the blog. I try to add some history of the areas we visit so the blog is not just about us.
All tips are included on the river cruises and small ship cruises, so don’t feel obliged to tip, but you can certainly do so if you want. Non Tauck activities of course you tip, it not necessarily the 20% you would here in the US.
