Spotlight on Australia 2015

We are looking at taking this trip in Sept or Oct of 2015. Any info others are willing to share would be great! Is this a good time of year to go?

  • September will be very nice in the Centre and probably quite delightful in the tropical north. Melbourne might be a tad chilly, but probably sunny. Depending on what climate you are used to at home, Melbourne's chilly might be quite like Twain's summer in San Francisco.
  • We did this trip from England last year in October and the weather was super. Melbourne was lovely spring sunshine. I suppose Wellington is always windy and that was the coolest, then down in Queenstown needed a jumper and it rained so our activities had to be rescheduled because the Shotover river was flowing too fast.
Otherwise a super, super tour. Enjoy.

What did you do in place of the excursion on the Shotover River?
  • They just swapped the days around so we went on the steam ship across the lake to the ranch one day early, by which time Shotover had drained sufficiently for the following day. That's the thing with Tauck, they think on their feet.
