My wife , and I are looking forward to our first trip with Tauck. We live in Southern California. If your on this trip say Hi.
We're coming into Barcelona one day early any recommendation for what to do with this day ,or see thats not covered by our tour would be appreciated.

My husband & I took this trip last year & arrived 1 day early. We stayed at the same hotel that you'll be at. We arrived around 9:30AM, our room wasn't ready. The front desk gave us passes to Palau Guell that's w/I walking distance of the hotel. It has some of Gaudi work in it, don't miss going up to the roof. There's the Placa De Catalunya square close to the hotel. You can walk down La Rambla street & down to the waterfront, it's a good walk so wear your sneakers. Also on La Rambla not far from the hotel is the big market where the locals go it's called Mercat St Josep La Boqueria. Go on Trip advisor.com & put in Barcelona Spain-things to do. I printed out a map of the town from the internet & took it with us, very helpful. You'll enjoy your trip, that was our 5th tour with Tauck & this summer we're off to Scandanivia & next year it's the Grand European River cruise for 3wks. You'll be spoiled-have a great trip & enjoy. Now tour tips.- near the square the Placa De Catalunya square , there is the main stop for the double decker buses Hop on Hop off.- go with the red buses company. 2 routes blue/red. do the one that takes you to the Gaudi sites first... by a 2 day ticket and be super early.

La Pedreda , another Gaudi building is great, top roof is worth the visit.

Hope this helps, The Music Palace is @ walking distance from hotel, I would recommend a taxi on your way to the Palace because you have to be on time (cost 3-5 euros) and them walk back.
Santiago was my favorite! Bilbao is beautiful San Sebastian also very nice.

Sorry for the delay in my response. We just got back from Branson, Mo, but our G E river cruise next year is with Tauck. When you decide if you want to go on a Tauck river cruise make sure you start checking them out over 1 year in advance. Dependng on the cruise some fill up faster then others. We booked our G E cruise back in February 2017 & a month or so after that our category was sold out. Darlene
