Insect repellant

What is the best insect repellant to use on the exposed skin? Even if one wears long sleeves and long pants that are "bugs away" one would think the bugs will find some skin!

Give a read to this article from the EPA.

Then get a product with DEET (a minimum of 30%. Higher is better, but too high and you may have skin issues), picaridin (%?), or IR3535 (%?)- products by Repel (Repel 100 label says it uses a 98.1-percent DEET formula (?!?!) and lasts 10 hours), Sawyers, Cutters, etc. Most companies sell a wide range of bug repellents containing the different active ingredients. We like Sawyer products; their Premium Insect Repellent has 20% Picaridin and claims to last 14 hours.

Most are available in pump spray, wipes, and creams. Smell, skin feel, etc. differ and so everyone has their favorites, so you may want to pick up some small packs of wipes of each and give them a try.

Before you go, treat your clothes with Permethrin then use repellent on your skin in country.
