Dress for dinner - men

Is it necessary for my husband to bring a sport jacket? Do most men wear jackets to dinner? Are ties the norm? Will be on MS Joy Venice to Prague in June.

    I was on the Blue Danube sailing a few years back. I wore a jacket and tie to the 3 fancy dinner nights. On my sailing most of the men wore jackets and ties, some wore jackets only and some (perhaps 15%) wore neither. You won't be alone, regardless of which choice you make.

    We took this trip in October. There are 4 fairly fancy dinners, one in Budapest, one in Vienna, one on board, and one in Prague. The one in Vienna was the dressiest. All the men on our sailing wore a sport coat and many wore ties for those 4 dinners. The weather was cool, so maybe on a summer sailing the men will dress up less.
