Venice and Dalmatian Coast May 2018
Went couple days early to Venice. Hotel Danieli has wonderful Terrace Bar open 3:00-6:30 with great lagoon views. Our friends at the other hotel came over every afternoon to enjoy the view and drinks. Venice was very crowded even in May.
Le Lyrical is a perfect ship size with a fine crew. Well-designed; room small but had plenty of storage. Embarkation and debarkation were quick and painless.
The Sibeniik Waterfall tour was very enjoyable; a cool oasis. We enjoyed the trail that led to the bottom and back up.
Dubrovnik was crowded as was Split. We went into Dubrovnik for dinner at a spot recommended by the Tauck guide - excellent, quiet dinner with local wines. After the day tourists leave the city is beautiful in the evening.
Suggestions are to prepare for hot weather on shore, take the interior trip options then wander the towns on your own, get cash from the ATM as credit cards are often not taken.
The ship laundry was reasonable and fast.
Take good walking shoes as streets are cobblestone.
We enjoyed getting up early for the morning sails into port as well as the departures. Great little outdoor bar on top deck for that.
As to dinners on board ship, men in our group wore jackets and dress shirts but no ties. Others wore ties and jackets. So whatever you are comfortable in seemed to work well.
We read a lot about the area before we went and that enhanced our visit. It is a wonderful trip.
