We are on a Tauck Danube river cruise starting Oct 18 Budapest to Prague. We have an extra day in Budapest and would like a recommendation on Private Jewish Heritage tour in Budapest. We are thinking 4-6 hours. Any recommendations are appreciated.

    We took a tour with Rashad S. from www.toursbylocals.com in July before our cruise. We did a full day (8hr) historical and cultural tour, but he also does a 4hr Jewish Heritage Walking Tour. He was very knowledgeable and customized the tour to our wishes. If you can't get him, there are other guides on the website that do Jewish focused tours as well. It is easy to book the tour on their website and the guide will meet you at your hotel. Enjoy Budapest. It is beautiful.

    While staying at the Ritz, we asked the concierge for a tour of the Jewish area. He arranged a 4 hour tour with Lutka, a young 25 year old woman (recent university graduate) who gave us a wonderful tour throughout the Jewish ghetto, the ruin bars, the memorials, shoes on the Danube, and even recommended a great restaurant. Sorry I don’t know the name of the company. The cost was $50 Euro per hour - we had a group of 8 and shared the cost.
