August weather and rain gear?

We are going on the August 15 trip. I see that daily temperatures are between 50-70 degrees F +/-. We are bringing outer “shell” type jackets for layering which will also work for some rain protection. At this time of year, should we bring “shell” Parkas (much longer) as rain gear?

    I don't think August is rainy season; and, anyway, you are not outside the vehicle very much! A windbreaker for chilly mornings should be fine.
