Daily Temperatures / Outerwear

I have been monitoring the Nairobi daily temperatures.....55-75 degrees and no rain. Under these conditions, we will layer as instructed in these blogs. Considering the temperatures, dust, "roughness" of the vehicles, insects, etc., are cargo type shorts appropriate or should one stick with long pants?

    Shorts don't weigh much. Throw them in. Nice for lounging around the patios and pool areas of the hotels during free time between game drives.
