what to wear

We are on the August 29th tour and I am wondering if it would be better to go on the safari in long pants or shorts. Are jeans acceptable for the safari?

I don't know what the weather is in August, as we went in May. We didn't wear jeans on safari, as they are heavy and difficult to wash and dry. We did wear them to dinner in some of the less fancy hotels. Also, in the Serengeti, they tell you not to wear blue or black as those colors attract tsetse flies.

Some people wore shorts on the hotter days.

Most of us brought tan and khaki lightweight pants and capris that could be laundered easily by the hotels' excellent laundry service.

    Hello Math2,

Truly a year-round destination, the East African climate features warm, bright days. The temperature in August in both countries ranges from the mid 70s tolow 80s. Jeans are acceptable for this tour but, like Ilene in FL stated light weigh khaki pants and easy to launder clothes are a good idea.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
