Tauck is the best!
We had booked Douro RIver Cruise for July 2022. A couple we med on a previous Tauck tour called and asked us to go with them on small ship cruise Treasures of the Mediterranean Isles for October 2022. We called Tauck to see if we could transfer the deposit and Cruise Protection Plan. We were first told we would have to cancel the river cruise and would get out deposit back but that we would lose the Cruise Protection Plan and then rebook, We thought about it and decided we would be ok with losing the cost of the protection plan. We called back to make the new reservation and were told that Tauck would make an exception and apply the funds for both deposit and protection plan and we just had to pay the difference. We were delighted.
This is not the first time Tauck has come through for us. On our Budapest to Amsterdam river cruise om 2018 we had to change riverboats twice due to low water. It was a smooth transition but a little inconvenient. To our surprise a few weeks after we were home we each received a voucher for $750, I am not sure how many other tour companies would do that,
We would not travel with any other tour company.

Hi eleonore, you are right about Tauck being the best. In August 2018 we took a 4 week river cruise from Amsterdam to Bucharest. It was around day 4 we had to disembark the riverboat. Fortunately there was another Tauck boat coming from the other direction. What Tauck did, we switched riverboats with the other people. They turned the boats around and we got on their boat & they got on ours so we could continue our cruise along the river. It was around a 3 hour bus ride to reach the other boat. We heard the rivers in Europe were low and there were sections that were closed. Since Tauck's riverboats are lighter then other tour companies we could go further. The captain also drained all the water out of the pool which helped. After arriving home we also received a voucher, for $1000. Boy what a surprise that was. Like you said. not sure how many (if any) other tour companies would do that. We have since used our voucher and looking forward to our 2 week river cruise next year. It's the French Escapade -Southbound, it's the 3rd date we've had because of the virus. Happy Travels to you.
