We'd like to be able to give something to the local tribes-people we meet at the various stops. It used to be said that T-shirts were appreciated, but I've also heard that school supplies (pencils, notebooks etc) are more helpful.
Advice?

    There is a scheduled visit to a school at the Ngorongoro Crater. It is appropriate to bring school supplies which are collected by the Tauck tour director and given to the teachers to use in the classrooms. We were asked not to give items directly to the children. T-shirts would not be a good idea, as you couldn't possibly bring enough for all the students!
