Lake Powell

Any feedback on how the Lake Powell portion of this trip is going? We depart May 15, 2022, curious what recent travelers have experienced. Any input is appreciated.

  • @Ringling123 hope you are having a lovely time. We ahead out on May 29. Interested in hearing about Lake Powell, too. Also, how hot was the weather throughout the tour?

  • We were on that tour April 6. Lake Powell is at record lows. Monument Valley flightseeing was cancelled due to extreme high winds. An evening dinner cruise was also cancelled for the same reasons. Tauck issued refunds for those activities. The river rafting trip was extremely cold then, but we were prepared, so had a great time. At that time, the temperatures ranged from 90 in Scottsdale to 11 one morning in Bryce Canyon.

  • We just returned from the May 15th trip. The cruising and Lake Powell activities are currently active. While the lake is at record lows, everything is still running.
Temperatures range significantly on this trip so please be prepared.

  • All activities were completed, except slot canyons. Lake Powell is quite low, but had been supplemented last week from up stream dams. Still quite a bit of water if you look at areas beyond the resort area. We did flight to Monument Valley which I thought was worthwhile. You do get a good look at a Large part of Lake Powell on the flight. Dinner cruise, boat trip to dam and rafting trip all went as planned. Slot canyon visit still shut down for time being, which we would have liked to see. Very hot when we were there, next day at Bryce it was down to 30’s in am with 20 mph winds, but still beautiful to see.
