Can anyone give me guidance on a packing list? specifically do we need water proof shoes or would athletic shoes be sufficient?

I am on the Grand Alaska tour right now, it was pouring with rain all morning and we were stepping off the bus into puddles of water. This is not unusual for Alaska, so paxl what you feel is appropriate for that kind of weather.
