You can upload and download at full resolution. I have uploaded shots from my 24 megapixel Nikon with no problem. It will suggest an upload at a lower resolution, but this is an option not a requirement. The pictures have to be JPG and sRGB color space, so no RAW and no Adobe RGB. If you take your shots in RAW or Adobe RGB, as I do, you will have to do an export from your photo editing software to the proper format.
It does take a while to upload. Upload speeds from most ISPs are much slower than download. For example, I get 50 Mbps download, but only 5 Mbps upload. The uploader works on three pictures at a time, but it still takes a while. Uploading 200-300 pictures of mixed file size (some from my DSLR, some from a point and shoot) takes half a day or so. You just setup the upload and go away for a few hours.
Downloading from a share site is done one picture at a time, but is much faster due to the faster download speeds.
