Electrical Power Adapters

Hi!

Does anyone know what kind of adapters we'll need for travel to South Africa & Zimbabwe?

We're from Canada, so we're going from 120v/60Hz...

Thanks so much!

  • Took this trip in September. The different hotels and lodges had a mixture of plug types, even within some rooms there were different plug styles.

The blurb below is from Tauck's "know before you go" section for this trip.

"The electrical current is generally 220/230v, 15 amps, and is supplied through either 15-amp three-prong or 5-amp two-prong plugs, in both cases with round pins. If you bring anything electrical, you may need to bring an adapter – or you could buy one in South Africa. Generally, the 110v video chargers work safely on the 220v supply."

Also, many websites show additional information. Here is one:

This is a fantastic trip. Enjoy!

  • We took several adapters on this trip and most accomodations also had at least one North American style outlet. All of our devices (iPhone, iPad and camera) would charge on their voltage and Hz.This trip is one of the best we’ve been on.
  • Thanks! Appreciate the help. Cannot wait to go on this trip, especially with all of the great reviews!
