In the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Radner focuses on the Cambodian genocide...very moving and beautifully written...there is a follow up book, Music of the Ghosts, but I liked the first one better...there are many Vietnam war novels and non-fiction, but my favorite is ]The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien. If you are interested in checking out some films, I highly recommend the documentary, Dear America: Letters Home From Vietnam. Try to keep a dry eye when “Silent Night” begins playing.
I am part way through "First They Killed My Father" by Loung Ung. So far, it's a good read. I have not yet started "The River's Tale: A Year on the Mekong" by Edward A. Gargan, but it's next on my list.
