Just returned from Classic Italy

3rd trip with Tauck and best experience. Private tour of the Sistine chapel and the Uffizi gallery in Florence was ** Priceless**!. We were the test group for the private Uffizi tour and we raved about it on our comment cards. Hope Tauck continues this outstanding opportunity. Some practical advice..train for this trip. My iPhone showed between 4-5 miles most days . Most of this walking is on uneven ground, Italy's streets are concrete, asphalt, cobblestones, packed gravel, marble and stone slabs. Very little is flat or smooth. You really need to keep an eye on your feet. Broken in comfortable shoes are a must. Having sufficient stamina helps enjoy all the sights and surroundings. Hotels are over the top. Many had beautiful salt water pools so bring a suit. We found a dip was tonic to revive ourselves before dinner. Excellent food and wine in large quantities.Pace yourself. Bring a number of laundry detergent packages to rinse out clothing as you go along. Laundry service tend to be expensive at the hotels. Overall this is a trip to remember for a lifetime. Lots of people traveling even in the "off " season. Best tour director ever and I thought the others were excellent. She got us in and out of the crowds easily and efficiently .We had 36 people on our tour.
Nice size to socialize and enjoy dining with different people as trip progressed. Just wanted to share when the memories were fresh. Wishing you an outstanding tour.
