Book and Miniseries recommendation
I’ve finally finished reading this book
In conjunction with the Miniseries The Last Place on Earth, which was made in 1985. I have the last DVD to watch from Netflix
While going to Antarctica is not on my bucket list, I’ve always watched and read a lot about Antarctica and Captain Scott and his success at reaching the South Pole, although he was sadly not the first and indeed perished on the return journey.
The book is one of the most famous adventure books of all time and is from the diary of the writer who was in Antarctica with the expedition, and the diaries of Scott and others. It’s an extremely detailed account and long at over 550 pages, I really enjoyed it. It recounts the terrible conditions everyone, man and animal had to endure.
The movie is a little dated in acting style but it even includes a very young Hugh Grant who plays the author of the book.
For those going to Antarctica, I highly recommend them.
