On our trip we were told that you will see two different color roofs. The brighter orange ones are new and were put on the buildings that were destroyed during the war. The darker ones with lichen or other growth are older and are on buildings that were not damaged. In Dubrovnik you will see more new roofs than old roofs which gives a good idea of the damage to the city.
