Pre-tour ideas in/near Porto
Not sure whether Livraria Lello, the Porto bookshop that inspired JK Rowling, has been mentioned here. I missed it last trip; it's not quite in the center of town. It's so famous that you now pay 5€ to visit, which I think can be applied to a purchase. (A theater-turned-bookstore in Buenos Aires imo also makes the top 10.) Covid interfered, but next time I'm in Portugal I also want to spend a few days in the university town of Coimbra, about an hour south of Porto. Tauck stops for lunch there on some itineraries. I have the Livraria Lello on my list of things to do in Porto. Our "Week in Portugal" has a tour of the university in Coimbra, followed by lunch on our own there.
cool...looks like you have to book a time, crowd control, even b/f covid. Always a bit tricky when traveling. Good luck!
