Rome and Florence Favorites?
Ciao~Calling all fellow travelers to share thoughts: we're off to Rome, Florence, Venice ( we've visited before), plus new ones too. Do you have a favorite site to suggest seeing, maybe a little unusual-- beyond the Rick Steves 3-stars such as the Forum and Colosseum? Or the Accademia and Pitti Palace? Or Doge's Palace and St. Mark's in Venice?

Rome - The Jewish Ghetto area and the Great Synagogue.
Florence - The Uffizi Museum.
In Rome, we enjoyed the National Etruscan Museum. Then wandered through the beautiful grounds of the Villa Borghese, where we enjoyed lunch at an outdoor cafe. A lot of walking, and worth it on a beautiful day.
Worth a detour is S. Pietro in Vincoli (St. Peter in Chains), a church with Michelangelo's famous Moses sculpture.

In Florence, the Galileo Museum and the Bargello National Museum are both amazing and not on the Tauck itinerary. In Rome, the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore - another stunning church but well worth the visit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Maria_Maggiore
