101° predicted this weekend in Paris. I remember a terrible heat wave in the past and read that today only 5% of French homes have AC. I've suffered in Greece in October; I see Athens will have several days above 100°. Stay hydrated if you're traveling. French Rail, SCNF, is distributing water, says tracks are also suffering in the heat, leading to delays and cancellations. Some relief on way next week. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/16/europe/france-temperature-record-heatwave-intl/index.html

  • The only time I wished I WAS NOT in Paris was during a heatwave. Temps were around 104* and there just wasn't a good place to find relief. We rented a AC portable unit to help in the apartment we had rented; it helped somewhat. We took a break from Paris and went to Mont St Michel for 2 nights and that was magical. There were cool, ocean breezes - and when we had returned to Paris, the extreme temps had dropped. It was still higher temps than usual but it was all bearable.
