Binoculars?
Tauck recommends binoculars for the trip. I would think we would be walking right in the midst of everthing, and would therefore not need those. And, of course, they are somewhat heavy and bulky. Does anyone have any suggestions about this, esp though in either of the Switzerland trips?
Thanks.

I’ve been to Switzerland and you do not need binoculars. I was on Switzerland’s Crowned Jewels trip. Binoculars are not necessary.
I agree. Tauck's suggested packing list is just that...a suggestion. Perhaps useful on certain "exotic" adventures but certainly not on European tours. This is just my opinion.
Just returned from Crown Jewel trip. Absolutely no need for binoculars.
You certainly don't need one but if you want to see details you can. There are plenty of compact binoculars out there or you can do what my husband does and pack a small monocular telescope.
If you are going to Africa bring your own binoculars. It is very annoying to have binoculars but not being able to use them because everyone in the vehicle has yours.
