What do you see on Tauck’s city tour of Belfast? Is it comprehensive or just what you see on the drive to the hotel? I believe it’s day 3.

We took that tour in 2018. You can see what we did there at https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2018Ireland-01.htm#Belfast
We toured the Titanic museum then a drive around the town with a local guide aboard that included the Parliament bldg and many of the murals. We didn't get out and go into any bldgs.
Mike-Your photos were wonderful and the information very helpful. Claudia-when was your trip? I'm assuming you went to both the Protestant and Catholic areas. My friends and I are trying to see if we can, or need to, fit in a Black taxi tour after we return to the hotel on Day 4. Thank you both!
We went in 2018. Sorry, I don't remember specifically if it was protestant or Catholic so you might want an additional tour. I'd suggest you call Tauck about timing to see when you'd have time. The next day in Derry was definitely Catholic.
Fyi, anyone going on this tour I'd recommend watching the TV series Derry Girls which is primarily a comedy about a group of teens during the troubles but is actually very touching especially the final episodes in Season 3. I cried..
I did the small group tour last summer. We drove through only the Falls Road, the Catholic/Republican area. I was disappointed that we didn't get to Shankill Road the Protestant/Unionist area (though I did see some posters of "Good King Billy* as we drove around). We were told that because there was the Pride Parade that day, our route to the hotel was not the usual route. I was disappointed that we could not see both sides of the Troubles, and wished that we had had a talk by a historian there and/or in Derry/Londonderry. I highly recommend the book "Say Nothing" by Patrick Keefe for an insight into the Troubles. It's nonfiction, but it reads like a mystery.
did this trip back in May. Hope u stay at the Merchant Hotel, which use to be a bank, as it is lovely. Get out and walk on your free time. Wife and I enjoyed this trip very much. Be sure and take the exc. to Coolmore Stud Farm when in Cashel.
We are at the merchant hotel and will visit the stud farm as well. Just trying to decide if we should do a black taxi tour of the Catholic and Protestant neighborhoods on day 4 after we return to the hotel. The concierge can order a taxi at 5:30 pm., but there is a bit of pressure to commit now. Hard to do that since it’s possible that we could be late returning from our day with Tauck! Sounds like Tauck might drive through this area, but maybe the city guide doesn’t go into much detail? Watched and enjoyed “The Derry Girls”. Will try to read Say Nothing . Thanks for your recommendations.
Tauck takes you through Derry where there was a great amount of 'trouble'. Belfast/Titianic Museum was worth it. Enjoy the pubs/food/people. Hope u have Michael as your TD.
We took this tour in 2019. Our local guide in Belfast really minimized "the troubles". The only murals we saw were the ones we drove past. I wish we would have accompanied our friends and hired a private cab driver, who was recommended by the Merchant Hotel. The driver did an excellent job taking them to see many many murals and explaining the significance. They were told which murals they could photograph and which ones he would not permit them to leave the cab.
If you would like a more in-depth explanation, I would suggest doing a private tour. I wish we had.
I have asked TAuck for more specifics about our Belfast city drive. The Merchant hotel wants us to sign up in advance and I'm concerned that we could be late getting back from the Atrium or the schedule could change. Loves2travel- Do you remember how far in advance your friends reserved the cab? Thanks wildcat03 and loves2travel2.
If you need a dinner recommendation for the free evening in Belfast, Nu Delhi is a fun fusion+traditional place.
Carolv - They made the arrangements the same day.
Thanks loves2travel2. I think we,ll go for that!
