Budapest to the Black Sea (the Accommodations)
Our trip “Budapest to the Black Sea” in June and July of 2024 consisted of some land portion as well as the river cruise abord the MS Treasures. Here is a review of our accommodations.
You can see a separate review of the tour and the food in a separate post. Links to those:

It’s pretty hard to get a bad stay at a Ritz-Carlton. This hotel was nice with well appointed rooms. We had a nice view from our room overlooking Elizabeth Square. One of the better breakfast buffets including fresh squeezed orange juice.
Here are a few pictures.
This was our home for days 3 through 9 of our trip. We opted for a category 7 cabin which is the largest on the ship. Here are a few pictures of our cabin as well as a few pictures from around the ship.
A huge walk in closet.
The Panorma Lounge
The Top Deck
JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel
This is a very nice hotel and we had a corner room with a view of Catedrala Mantuirii Neamului (National Cathedral). Unfortunately, the area was under renovation at the time.
This hotel is not in the center of the city and is not within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants. The hotel has 4 restaurants but unfortunately 2 of them were closed during our stay. Dinners were on our own with Tauck footing the bill for one dinner. Here are a few pictures.
Comments
JohnS - Your room on the boat looks amazing. Did it come with butler/valet service?
Any thoughts/future posts about on-board entertainment. Did the heat make the top deck unusable?
Smiling Sam – No butler/valet service. You are probably confusing this with a Regent Seven Seas or one of the top end luxury cruises. Room service = yes. We didn’t do any room service as the restaurants were always better for us. We do like to have an area apart from the bed to relax so the Cat 7, even though a bit more costly is what we prefer.
The heat on the top deck was intense at times so we weren’t up there that much.
There was regional entertainment throughout the trip. I will see if my wife wants to comment on that.
Smiling Sam - We had a couple of late afternoon/cocktail hour entertainment by locals. One was a group of traditional Hungarian dancers that were a lot of fun to watch and a few days later a couple of Bulgarian ladies performed some classical music.
Then there was the evening party on July 4th.
Thanks JohnS/SueMS.
