I'm a skeeter magnet as well. I treated my safari clothes with Permethrin and used a similar but not as strong product on exposed skin. I had only two or three bites during both K&T and Botswana, SA, Zambia.
Ditto what the others have said. No issues with the bitey things in Africa. Not a single bite in the first half of September despite short sleeves and shorts on some days.

I have more mosquitos in my backyard at home than I experienced in Africa. Use the mentioned precautions.
