Driver/guide based in Turin
Happy New Year, everyone! We are already looking forward to our week in Piedmont with Tauck later this year. This is a new tour and a part of the country that I am not familiar with, nor do I have any contacts in the area. Has anyone by chance ever used a driver/guide from Turin? I tried looking at the website "Driver in Italy" that is often recommended here, but they don't seem to serve that area. I could certainly see if they have any contacts, or simply try Tripadvisor, if I don't get anywhere with a "personal" recommendation. I have also contacted the hotel but hotel rates tend to be quite high. Thanks for any suggestions.

We have used the travel agency IC Bellagio, in Bellagio, Italy to put together two custom designed multi-week tours, Sicily and Umbria/Tuscany, for four of us. They arranged for English speaking drivers and tour guides for the venues. They did a great job. I'm sure they can put together just what you are looking for in Turin. Email contact: eleonora@icbellagio.com. Good luck.
Thank you for the information, inlanikai. If anyone else has come across independent driver/guides please let me know.
Wan, I'm not sure what you are looking for but we have used Day Trip five or six times in different countries. We use them for getting from one place to another but each time we've used them the company offers three or four stops along the way. While the drivers are not guides most of them have been entertaining.
I notice that your Piedmont itinerary includes Stresa and Isola Bella. We were in Stresa on another Tauck trip and really enjoyed the hotel and the sights. Enjoy!
Thank you, I did notice that company online and their mostly positive reviews. I think we did locate a driver, and the rate seems fair, but he does not speak English which is not a problem for me but means if it works out I won't be able to recommend him to most people.
In any case, it is really good to hear that someone has had a positive experience with Day Trip. I'm sure we will use them at some point. I wish we were not so averse to renting a car internationally but we've heard too many horror stories.
And yes we've also been to Stresa and Isola Bella on the Bellissima Northern Italy tour. I kind of wish they would have included Lago Orta on this trip--it looks even prettier, but maybe we can get there on our own.
I wish they had designed this tour to include 3 days in Valle d'Aosta. That is where I am trying to get to. It looks spectacular.
Thank you again for the information!
