travel from Paris to Bruges
Hi. We will be completing a Tauck tour in Paris this May and want to travel to Bruges and then Amsterdam. I assume taking a train is the way to go. Can I get some advice on how to book a train, which train, what's the difference between first and second class seats and estimated cost? Thanks

When I was planning train travel in Spain I found the website The Man in Seat 61 (www.seat61.com) very helpful. Deciding train vs fly for us depends on travel time including security/checking bags on planes, will the scenery be interesting, costs, and schedule. Also how easy is it to transfer from/to lodging to the airport or station.
The train is the way to go. You can search on Rome2Rio for a general idea. Two options: Paris to Lille to Ghent to Bruges. Or Paris to Brussels Midi(Zuid) via Eurostar. Then take the train to Bruges from Midi. Eurostar tickets directly go directly to Eurostar website. you will need a reservation regardless of class unlike regional trains. We usually choose Eurostar Plus. From Brussels to Bruges go to the Belgium national railroad website. They will as you for the time of your departure but the ticket can be used at anytime.
I have used the website, Trainline.com.
It is very easy to make your reservations using Trainline. I will be using them a few times in May.
I learned from a past mistake to book your seat on the first floor of the train. You do not want to carry your luggage up to the 2nd level of the train. There are luggage racks that everyone uses in every train car so you might want to choose your seats near the luggage racks just to have eyes on your luggage.
