How much cash to bring?

We are going on the Classic Safari and I'm struggling with how much U.S. dollars to bring? We're open to using Credit Cards but know that not all places take them and have heard that the U.S, dollar if new( after 2000) is excepted most everywhere. Can anyone give me a general daily breakdown? Plus how much for exit taxes , was that significant?
Any advise is appreciated!

I brought $1500 in cash and came home with $950. I ended up using the 150 $1 bills as part of the tip for our Tour leader!! All tips are usually covered and there are no exit taxes. Credit cars are accepted almost everywhere and I only used cash when "on the fly" and The Masai Village.
