We took the May 19, 2012, safari this year, and the weather was absolutely perfect! 70's and maybe low 80's during the day with high 50's and 60's at night.
Another positive reason for traveling in late May is that this time of year is right after the rainy season, so we probably had much less dirt and dust on the roads than they have during the dry months.
The only disadvantage of May is that we were too early for the masses of wildebeests and zebras that are seen during the height of the annual migration; however, due to weather conditions, there is no guarantee that you would see this in any given month.
