Delhi Oberoi hotel
Here we are on our first day in Delhi. The hotel is a 30 minute drive from the airport during the night. I guess longer during the day with traffic. Strict security, your bags will go through X-ray and you will go through airport type security screening before entering the hotel. We got to bed about 3am and. Awoke at 11-20am
Worth bringing a pair of binoculars if you love birdlife, our room overlooks thick 'jungle' and there are raptors, parrots and other types of Birds to view, spectacular. So no other things to do in the vicinity, very peaceful, Delhi skyline in the distance. Hotel can arrange things like cooking class with hotel chef, we booked that for tomorrow. Spa treatments, yes couples! tomorrow too. Tea tasting, spice market trip rickshaw ride also available. Hotel lunch buffet very good, Indian, Chinese,sushi and best cup of Earl Grey tea I've ever tasted, complete with tea cosy over the pot.
Glad we have time to relax and do the spa and cooking class only, before tour starts full on the next day.
Our advice would be not to book a big tour the day you arrive until you see how the jet lag gets you, or come extra days early to give you time to adjust before the tour begins
