Visas for Canadian travellers

Just wondering if any Canadian travellers have done their visas direct with the Kenyan & Tanzanian consulates? Or did you use a middleman? It seems much cheaper to go direct but a bit more of a challenge arranging it. Thanks

  • I called the Kenya embassy in Ottawa. They told me to print off the visa form for both counties and fill them out. I sent both forms along with my passport and a money order for each country along with a prepaid return Canada post envelope and they took it to the Tanzania Embassy across the street picked it up and returned it to me. The whole process took about 2 weeks but the savings were huge and was no problem. Make sure you send it so you have a tracking number also using Canada Post. Just google the embassy for the phone number in Ottawa, I believe it is on Range Road. I would call before sending to make sure nothing has changed. They were very nice people and very efficient. I am not sure when you are going, we went in mid August and had great weather, tons of wildlife and no bugs. Fantastic trip. We are from Peterborough.

  • I'm from Toronto and also had no problem, it took about 3 weeks. I went to the Canadian consulate website for each country and submitted them separately. That's probably why it took a bit longer and as it turns out, was more expensive. Oh well, live and learn. I did this two months ago in March, but they say it takes longer during high season. I leave for my first time trip to Africa in exactly one week today and I cannot be more EXCITED!!
  • Thanks to you both. I'll follow your advice cantraveller and get them done together. My first trip to Africa and I leave early Aug - so excited! I'm from Vancouver.
