Extra things to do in New Zealand

Your Tauck trip boils down to 8 days in New Zealand. This is patently insufficient time to discover much about the diverse culture NZ offers. Chances are your arrival point from a US flight will be the North Island city of Auckland … the largest city, although not the national capital, in the nation.

Although your Tauck trip ends in Auckland, you don't see much of the North Island. There is a lot to see. One suggestion is to take a side trip from Auckland up into Northland, basing yourself in or near the Bay of Islands town of Paihia. Another suggestion is to venture to the Hawkes Bay city of Napier. You will be hard pressed to find a better example of an Art Deco city, anywhere else in the world.

Just a couple of suggestions to keep you going.

Cheers,

Jan

  • I agree with Jan. You really should try to get up to Northland and in particular to visit the Waitangi Maori Treaty sites in North Island. We felt that perhaps Tauck might think about adjustments to the schedule to "complete the cultural picture" which we felt was left somewhat in limbo following the excellent tour of the Te Papa Museum in Wellington. I fed back that comment to Tauck. we went up to Northland on a previous trip and found the history most interesting.
