Leather

Does anyone know if you need to buy before going to India, belts that are not leather, a non leather wallet and booties to enter the Temples? I read somewhere that leather is not allowed in Temples.

Thanks.

  • Don't know where you read this but it is not true!
  • You won't have a leather problem, it was never mentioned on our tour. You do need to remove shoes for Temples, Mosques and other venues. Usually they give you paper booties to put over socks or bare feet. Some of these places are not particularly wonderful surfaces for unshod feet so be careful of slippage and foot trauma. No reason for worries the Tour Director will inform you of what you need for each place if pertinent, but that doesn't involve leather.

Plus, how would they know? Maybe there are people who can tell the difference between camel leather and cow, but I seriously doubt it.
