Flight schedule suggestions

Im doing research on the classic Italy tour for my mom and I . we will be flying out of Orlando fl most flights I see have 2 connections which for me is a pain. I'm trying to make it some what easy for my mom because she's not much of a traveller she gets allot of anxiety and also has some arthritis in her knees so not sure if rushing to make connections will be best for her. So I'm not sure which flight would be best

I found one on delta with connection in Atlanta for 2 hours then layover in Rome for 5 hours then we would take a codeshare flight on Alitalia to naples . I've never done a codeshare flight and concerned of an increase of lost luggage on a codeshare

The other option I thought of was to fly to Rome stay over night to rest then the next day catch a quick flight to Naples

I'm not sure which would be best any suggestions?

  • I have posted an answer to your other question on the other thread. I can't give a detailed answer to this question, though. My suggestion is to call Tauck's flight department and ask them every question you never thought of! Their information will be far more comprehensive that what you (or I) can see on the net. Tell them your particular requirements. Tell them that your Mum, like me, likes plenty of time at airports for "connections", "changes" and all sorts of other things!

Take their suggestion on board. Mull them over. Have another look at the net. Then decide. I'm sure they could even organise flights via Rome for you if that's what you decide.

Don't worry too much about a flight being a code share. What that means should mean nothing to you in a practical sense. There are plenty of other ways to lose your luggage without that! A code share flight is the least of your worries.

Take a deep breath. Make a cup of tea. Then ring Tauck and ask all your questions. They are bound to know the answers!

    Cheers,

Ah, I just saw this after replying to you on the other question. If you live in Orlando, why would you want to fly to Atlanta first? So many airlines fly to Orlando, there must be a way for you to fly to Europe without going to Atlanta first, that's crazy. I would do a little more research and then call Tauck to see if they can help, explaining your particular needs. It's no good me doing research for you, because you know what is acceptable for you, and my hubby is the one who flies more than me and is not interested in these forums. So many people fly to Orlando from England and England has so many flights, I would have thought on gut feelings that flying via an airport in England would be the best, you will surely only need two flights then. I also feel that when it comes to lost luggage, you can't beat the USA at losing luggage, so best to get out of the USA as quickly as you can with better chance your luggage making it with you.
Hey, let us know how you get on and pass on any tips!
  • I know for a fact that Delta Airlines has a flight from Orlando, FL to Atlanta, GA and then to Rome. We have taken that exact flight at least 4 times. When you search the Delta sight, uncheck the airports you do not want to connect through.
