Tauck reservation numbers

This may be something everyone already knows, but I just discovered it when I changed departure dates and received a new reservation number.

Tauck follows a system when assigning reservation numbers:

The "number" starts with two or three letters that represent the tour/area. e.g. GB = England, Scotland, Wales, DA = Ultimate Alps and Dolomites, KT = Kenya Tanzania Classic Safari, ITS = Classic Italy, Small Groups, IR = The Best of Ireland, etc. etc. The letters are followed by numbers representing the year, month, and day, of departure and the order in which you made the reservation,

e.g. KT 5613001 = Kenya Tanzania Classic Safari departing in 2015 (5), June (6), 13th (13) and this is the first reservation (001). I guess I was eager to sign up for this tour- it is our actual reservation number!

There are variations: RCX 5B29034 is the 34th reservation for a 2015 Christmas Markets Along the Rhine river cruise scheduled for a November 29 departure, north-bound from Basel (B)

It doesn't take much to entertain me! :)

  • AlanS- Interesting.....if you have not yet seen The Imitation Game, go, you'll enjoy it. Now I'm off to look up my reservation number.
  • AlanS: I did not know this and find it very interesting. It was fun to check the registration numbers for my upcoming tours. Thanks for sharing this.
  • I am always interested where I fall. I always could tell when I realized the order on the list they give you is the order of when we booked the tour. But, I now know my Aug. trip to Scotland I was number 9 to book. Thank You for pointing that out.
  • I love it!! Thanks for a great piece of information, Alan!

  • Ooh! I love it, too! Once you get used to the weird way you guys write the date! At least, the way you explain it here, Alan, you can make sense of it. Now, can you "translate" all that into Morse Code or how about flags? Personally, I quite favour ... I ... Champagne would do equally well.

    Cheers,
