I would not recommend the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam. The location is terrible! Not near any of the attractions. Service is terrible, had to wait over hour for room to be ready. Had requested a river view when I made reservations, but was given a street view.

    Yes, it is on the outer ring but hardly in the boondocks. The whole Amsterdam central area is less the 2 miles across and there is plenty of public transport if that is too much walking for you. Had you done any reading or research about Amsterdam prior to arriving?

    Your room wasn't ready? Did you arrive before check in time?

    Who did you request a river view room with? You need to follow up with them.
