Extra day in Prague

We arrive in Prague one day early and want to plan activities for our "extra day." But we don't want to duplicate what we'll be doing on the Day 2 tours. So we'll avoid the Castle District, which seems to be covered well in the morning. Does anyone know what is included on the afternoon Old Town walking tour that they are now calling a "Walk Through the Centuries"?

I am not sure what Tauck is covering on the Old Town walking tour. You would have to call them directly to ask. When I did this tour last year, my friends and I did the tour of the Jewish Quarter (not to be missed) with Tauck. We booked the Communism tour as a day tour. I believe it was through GreyLine. The Museum of Communism, which is located above MacDonald's and next to the casino, was interesting. We would have loved to spend more time there, however Prague was having a heat wave and with the temperature at about 100 and the museum lacking air conditioning, we did not spend much time there. We also walked across the Charles Bridge to see the John Lennon memorial.

Doing the jewish quarter and Old Town multiple times is a must. You don't really have a lot of 'stop and admire' time when there. Go across "the" bridge to the other side early in morning or later in early evening when not so many people. You'll be fully rested for the Lobkowicz palace dinner which is AMAZING and one of our significant highlights of entire journey. Bring your cameras to this event!!

We have the same issue next May, extra day in Prague. Tauck does two walking tours: Jewish Quarter and Old Tow to choose from. I think we will pick one to do on our own and the other with Tauck. At this point I'm thinking we will do the Jewish Quarter with Tauck since they will probably give us a lot of information that we are not familiar with as Christians. We will probably be arriving around noon on Wednesday giving us a good day and a half to see Old Town.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
