Jeans on Botswana, SA & Zambia tour

Would jeans be recommended on this trip? My husband has lots of jeans but not many of the *safari type* pants. I know jeans can create a weight issue because of the 44 lb. allowance on part of the trip, but just wondered if any men every wore them at all on the trip.

  • Don't recall seeing any jeans. I was going to say weight issue, but you mention that. If they are dark blue, who knows if the tsetse flies can bite through those, if they do attract the flies if they are around.
If you go to any of the stores like EMS, REi, DICKS sporting goods. They all have safari type fabric pants that also look like a pair of decent khaki type dress pants, they are light, don't crease and are lightweight. May I suggest those as an alternative that could be worn on other occasion. My husband often takes those on a regular vacation to wear in the evenings and they look pretty good in comparison to a nice pair of chinos.
