Sport coat necessary for Elegant South Africa trip?

Though I always bring a sport coat when traveling with Tauck, I notice more and more of the men do not wear one to the farewell dinner the last night. Thus, I am wondering if I should even bring one for this long trip. Please comment.

    Like you, Alan, I always take and wear a sports coat on Tauck welcome and farewell dinners, but notice increasingly that several men do not.
    I do what I feel comfortable with, and for me that is a jacket no matter what others do. That is just my own standard so do your own thing.

    My husband has decided to bring one as well. Can't hurt! :-)

    Things have gotten even more relaxed on these tours since the original poster two years ago. I think it is totally unnecessary.
