Being allowed into Yellowstone if park staffing gets significantly cut ?

Hi everyone. My husband and I are booked on this tour for January 2026. I know it’s very early, but I’m hopeful you seasoned travelers might have thoughts on this. We are so looking forward to this, but now, I’m uncomfortable that it may not even happen.

Any thoughts very appreciated !

  • We went on this exact trip during a government shutdown. It was a spectacular and awesome trip. I would not worry. My instincts tell me your trip will happen. The National Parks will not close.
There’s a documentary narrated by Kevin Costner worth watching: From Yellowstone to Yosemite”. It was good.

  • Thanks ‘our travels’, crossed fingers you’re absolutely right !

Tilly, hope you have a great trip. My main travel concern right now has to do with the FAA. If Sealord sees this maybe he can provide some insight.

  • I have the Yellowstone & Grand Teton tour coming up on June 28, 2025. Called Tauck about concerns with staffing cutbacks. The Agent had no information regarding the effects.

  • On CBS Sunday morning, there was a story about the impact. The parks say there will be hours of waiting to get into the parks. It may be that Tauck overcomes this by setting out very early in the morning if going to new parks. Within the parks will be fine, but I assume maybe visitor centers might be closed or shorter hours. Some parks will be closed on certain days. Still, June is a long way off.
